A proposed zoning law would prohibit methadone clinics <br />within 1,000 feet of a home, school, or church. <br />Source: WBR C; hap :llwww.my foxal. com <br />The City of Northport is considering proposed zoning rules related <br />to group homes. Among other things, the proposed amendments would: <br />" [m ]andate that no more than three unrelated people can live in the <br />home, while allowing caretakers who don't live there "; and "[r]equire <br />that group homes be at least one mile away from one another." Report- <br />edly, the Alabama Disabilities Advocacy Program has lodged a com- <br />plaint of housing discrimination with the federal Department of Housing <br />and Urban Development over the proposed rules. <br />Source: Tuscaloosa .Mews; www.tuscaloosanews.com <br />CALIFORNIA <br />Santa Barbara County recently approved a permanent ban on store- <br />front medical marijuana dispensaries in the county's unincorporated <br />areas. <br />Source: The Santa Ynez Valley Journal; www.santaynezvalleyjournal. <br />corn <br />ILLINOIS <br />DuPage County was expected to vote recently on a proposed set of <br />zoning amendments that were "geared toward reducing the impact of <br />new religious facilities on unincorporated residential neighborhoods." <br />Proposed amendments would "address infrastructure, traffic and build- <br />ing size issues related to churches, mosques and other places of assembly <br />in residential areas." <br />Source: Chicago Daily Herald; www.dailyherald.com <br />MARYLAND <br />Seven community associations, along with nine residents, recently <br />filed a lawsuit against Anne Arundel County.
