Ride Cancelled. The Mayor's snowmobile ride, rescheduled for February 11, has been formally
cancelled due to no snow and thin ice. Organizers held out to the last minute but daytime
temperatures in the 40's has created unsafe conditions on the Rum River and melted what little
snow we did have. Next year's ride will have to be twice as big to make up for this year's
misfortune.
Ice Rinks on Deathwatch. The good news is that Ramsey has had good -to -great ice - skating this
winter at both the Elementary School and Central Park — with just over 2,000 patrons counted in
the month of December alone. However, the forecast calls for continued melting temperatures
during the days ahead. Typically, the skating season lasts to the middle part of February, when
the sun is out a little longer and higher in the sky. Some years the ice has `gone bad' as early as
the first week in February, in contrast with the last two years wherein decent ice was maintained
well into the first week of March. The key for an extended season is overcast days, and colder
nights (allowing the day melt to refreeze). With neither of these conditions expected, the 2011 -12
skating season is in jeopardy of being on the shorter side. The vigil will continue for the time
being...
Department Activities:
CD /Admin
• Attended Northstar marketing meeting
• Meeting with Anoka County regarding Hwy 10 /CR 83 funding
• Discussed broader City marketing plan
• Discussed Comp Plan assumptions regarding sewer and water plan updates
• Discussed Sunwood Realignment funding
• Various personnel matters
• Budget meeting regarding preparation for February 14 Council Work Session
• Attended Public Finance Conference Thursday and Friday
HRA — Executive Director:
• Discussed North Commons design and development
• Discussed AUAR update
• Reviewed and discussed Kwik Trip purchase agreement
• Correspondence with PSD LLC regarding Mater Declaration resolve
• Monthly meeting with Jim Deal and Matt Kuker, PSD LLC
• Taped COR Report on location at The Falls Cafe
• Attended Public Finance Conference Thursday and Friday
Administration Items:
• Recorded COR Report
• Discussed options and approach to right of reverter issue
• Prepared exhibits to grant application — Sunwood/Armstrong
• Revised and updated graphics for Armstrong Interchange materials
• Developed typical street sections for design framework
• Considered final fiber alignment for Center Street
• Prepared final draft of design framework for PC
• Scope and planning for AUAR update
