Maple Grove: Absolute tower height limit of 50 feet and antenna height of 10 feet; no
provisions for variance or conditional use permit to exceed the height limits.

Elk River:

Towers, antennas, chimneys, etc. are allowed to exceed the maximum
structure height established for that district by 100%; to exceed that would
require a variance.

Commissioner LaDue inquired as to why Mr. Monson is proposing an 80' tower as opposed to
30' or some other figure.

Mr. Monson replied that height is everything when it comes to the ability to communicate. He
stated his specifications are 80' with an antenna that extends up to 100' which allows for excellent
communication.

Acting Chairman Hendriksen questioned the height with regard to air space.

Mr. Monson replied that FAA has been notified. He also explained that he is 8,000 feet from the
end of the runway of Gateway North Industrial Airport.

Commissioner Thorud asked with regard to reception interference if this included television sets.

Mr. Monson replied that the solid state televisions will be properly protected. He also explained
that his license is given to him by the FCC and renewed every five years, therefore, it can also be
revoked at any time or not renewed if he is operating improperly.

The Planning and Zoning Commission proceeded to review the findings of fact.

The language in facts #1 through #11 remain as presented.

Motion by Commissioner Terry and seconded by Commissioner Bawden to have fact #12 read
"That the proposed use will not be..."

Motion carried.
