She included enrollment information, building uses, special
events and summer recreation. Since 1985, the enrollment has increased 62%. She presented a
list of the types of classes offered and offered to clarify any of the classes. She stated that next
year she'd like to tie into the Latch Key Program. That would definitely increase enrollment. She
stated the school has become like a Community Center and a lot of emphasis has been put on adult
programming also. She explained the Assistant Coordinator's position and time and stated that
she, (Claudia) had taken a reduction in her own hours which benefited her and the City both. She
requested 10 more days assistance from the Assistant Coordinator. She informed the Committee
that the School District had given their approval for a Ramsey Specific Brochure which would be
mailed to everyone. Then everyone will know what is offered and will be able to take part in the
Community Education Programs. She has been granted permission to also sell ads for the
brochure as a way to recoup some of the money spent in the mailing and producing of the
brochure. Ms. Dodge stated that if she is to keep the diversity and scope of the Community
Education Program as it is, she needs funding assistance. She also added that a needs assessment
had not been done since 1983 or 1984 and she feels it is necessary to look at the community and
see what should be provided. She asked for the Committees input and direction as to where the
funding she receives should go.

Budget Committee/August 15, 1990
