Case #3 Review trail aliqnment and tot-lot Dark at Northfork P.U.D.:
case of North Fork. Inc.

Merland Otto explained that his main concern was the alignment of the trail in the
northern section of Northfork so that it will connect with the trail in Carr Addition. Mr.
Otto showed the Commission four possible alignments.

Dave Shappell, 9235 - 164th Lane NW, President of the Homeowners Association, stated
that one of their concerns is that the trail will go directly through the middle of the park
North Fork, Inc. donated to the homeowners. He explained that they would rather have
the trail go along the east and north ends of the park.

Merland Otto told the Commission that his concern with aligning the trail along the east
and north side is that there will be people cutting across the homeowner's association
park to get to the other end of the lrail. Also, that alternative will almost double the
length of the trail and there will be additional expense,

Commissioner Roselle stated that she does not see it as a problem if the homeowners are
aware of the possibility of people cutting across the park and are willing to take that
chance.

Motion by Chairman Hetland and seconded by Commissioner Roselle to accept alternative
#4 for the trail alignment of North Fork, Inc.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairman Hetland, Commissioners, Lokker, Johnson, Prall
and Roselle. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioner Rustad.

Dennis Peck told the Commission that park dedication will also consist of either a 2 acre
tot-lot or two 1 acre tot-lots. The tot-lots will be owned by the City but the principal
use will be by the Northfork residents. North Fork, Inc. would like it to go in by the
trail system to the North.

Dave Shappell suggested that the tot-lot go in the SW section of the plat.

Commissioner Roselle suggested that the Homeowners Association try to come up with
some alternate locations for the tot-lots to give North Fork, Inc. an idea as to where the
residents would like to have them.

Chairman Hetland suggested that North Fork, Inc. and the Homeowners Association work
together on the location of the tot-lot(s) and when they have some ideas to bring it back
to the Park Commission.

Case #4 Central Park and Riv{~r'~ Bend Park playqround equipment

Merland Otto reviewed some the of possibilities for handicapped equipment and made a
few suggestions as to what would be compatible with the existing equipment in the two
parks. He also reviewed the components involved in making the parks handicap
accessible.

The consensus of the Commission was to set up a meeting between Merland Otto and
Chairman Hetland on Monday, May 14, 1990, at City Hall to make the final decision on
the park equipment.

PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION / MAY 10, 1990
PAGE 4 OF 6
