INTRODUCTION OF ELK RIVER TENNIS ASSOCIATION ~[~]~'[~ ............

We are fundraising for Elk River Tennis Association which is a nonprofit,
incorporated, tax free association.

Our purpose is Co benefit the community as a whole but to focus on the
youth of School District 728.

We began the association in May of this year and plan on being an active
association for years to come to promote tennis.

There is a great need in our growing area for more porgrams and facilities
for children in our district.

We are here to ask the City of Ramsey to contribute to quality programs
for students who attend District 728.

II. PROGRAMS

ERTA has introduced 2 major tennis programs for novice and experienced
tennis players. Two more are planned for next year.

The first is an elementary school program - ERTA organized inservices
for teachers by a United States Tennis Association professional.
USTA supplied materials for teaching and they supplied 30 junior
tennis rackets to each elementary school!

The second program started this year is the National Junior Team Tennis
League.
-It is a summer program for any Junior or Senior High student interested
in tennis.
-It is a 6 week program of' instruction and competition.
-We have over 50 participants in this program alone and a dozen from Ramsey.

Next year we hope to offer the same type of program for 4th - 6th grade
students as was just described.

We also wish to begin a Peewee tennis program for elementary students in
the Primary grades. This would take place after school in the gyms.

To demonstrate the interest in tennis by students in our school'district,
we had approximately 90 students our for the Junior High Tennis teams
(This includes boys and girls), and 70 Senior High students out for
the tennis teams.

Member of USTA
