Day Captain - 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. Fire Department 2 Orientation of new firefighters to the station, its personnel, apparatus, equipment, and standard operating procedures. Maintain efficient communications with fellow members on department-related matters. Handle questions/suggestions and other department member's input in a timely manner and per department policy. Responsible for the safety and well-being of all firefighters under his/her supervision. Perform and aid in the performance of disciplinary actions as set forth per department policy manual. Enforce security of all information which is not open for communication. Ensure that all details directed by the Fire Chief are carried out. Settle all minor disputes and disagreements within the department in a timely, fair, and just manner according to standard operating procedures. Perform, along with the Fire Chief, a written and oral performance evaluation of each member of the department on a yearly basis. To respond to all alarms of fire and such other emergencies as possible. 1. Respond to fires and other emergencies as paged. To monitor and assess the probationary firefighters' progress and development. Responsible for keeping the Fire Chief aware of progress of probationary firefighters'. Provide training for the development of the probationary firefighter's. To help supervise the training and instruction of the members of the department in all subjects covered at drills. Remain cognizant of department policies and standard operating procedures. Responsible for the performance and conduct of the department. Bo Participate in community relations programs. 1. To ensure that good public relations are practiced by all firefighters under his/her supervision, both on and off emergency scenes. F. Perform other related work as apparent or required.
