Douglas R. Powers
15230 Iguana Stree, N.W.
Itamsey, MN 55303
(612) 422-3825

Statement of Purpose

As Fire Chief for the City of Ramsey, my primary goals would be; Firefighter
and Officers training, organising a proper chain of command within the department,
and developing a sense of camaraderie and purpose in order to foster team work.
Team work must be one of the top priorities of the Fire Department because team
work is the best way to work effectively as.professional firefighters.

Training for all personnel must be consistant and in accordance with State and
Federal requirements. Minimum standards of training would include, but not be
limited to; Firefighter safety, basic first aid, fire behavior, fire ground
tactics, accessory equipment usage and maintanence (ie., ropes, ladders, pump
cans, fire extinguishers, hurst tool, scba, etc.,), usage of fire trucks, arson
detection, inspections, hazardous materials awareness, and public relations.

Fire Officer qualifications would require extra training standards for eligibility.
This would include but not be limited to, Fire Officer courses, incident command,
and fire service supervision.

At present as a Firefighter for the City of Minneapolis, I assume the duties of
Fire Motor Operator and Engine Captain as ordered, at the same time as I have
been in training for advancement to these positions.

Respectfully,
