City Council Work Session (Tuesday - Immediately Following Special CC — LIR) <br />• Continued Discussion of 2013 Budget & Strategic Goals <br />Special Planning Commission (Tuesday — 7:00 p.m. — CC) <br />• Consider the Preliminary Plat for COR THREE (North Commons). It is anticipated that <br />the Preliminary and Final Plat for COR THREE will be considered by the City Council <br />on July 10 <br />Summer Concert Series begins. Thursday, June 21, marks the first summer concert event at <br />The Draw. Big Walter Smith and the Groove Merchants kick off the series with a night of blues. <br />This first event is sponsored by Anderson Dahlen Inc. and Village Bank. Attached to the <br />Weekly update is the flyer for The Draw Summer Event Series. <br />Reminder: June 21, 2012, 2:00 p.m. — 6:00 p.m. — Open House — ACE Solid Waste — <br />featuring their new natural gas trucks and fueling station. There will be tours, demonstrations, <br />giveaways and refreshments. There will be a 3:00 p.m. program. ACE is located at 6601 <br />McKinley Street NW in Ramsey. An article, published in the June 7 edition of the <br />StarTribune, (Business Section) talked about rental spaces and the uncommon amenities that <br />draw renters. Architect Noah Bly of UrbanWorks Architecture was interviewed and suggested <br />that new renters are looking for modern, high- quality apartment product that differentiates itself <br />through branding and availability of the latest amenities. He was quoted as saying that high on <br />the list of amenities is "great outdoor spaces ". "That means fantastic courtyards, where the grills <br />have become complete outdoor kitchens." "There's fire pits and just a lot of activity outside in <br />these outdoor areas. The article goes on to say that one new project featuring such a maximized <br />courtyard is the Residence at The COR in Ramsey, a 230 -unit, luxury apartment project next to <br />the coming Northstar Commuter Rail station in the City. Attached to the Weekly Update is the letter from the City of Sartell. <br />ICMA News Brief — Consultants Divulge Hurdles Stalling Economic Growth in Scott <br />County, Minnesota. The Minneapolis Star Tribune (6/10, Peterson, 328K) reports that civic <br />leaders of "what was once one of the nation's fastest - growing counties are being warned they are <br />not well - equipped" to participate in the economic recovery. Maxfield Research Inc. told Scott <br />County's civic leaders that the issues they face are common among counties across the US. The <br />consulting group said the market is demanding "big multifamily housing projects "; noted that <br />only "a handful of companies" are looking for "big corporate headquarter" campuses; cautioned <br />about the "limited supply" of ready -to -build land parcels that firms seek; and stressed that amid a <br />"competitive marketplace," Scott County is not providing "well- informed responses to inquiries <br />
