The Twin Cities Clean Cities Coalition
(TC4), coordinated by American Lung in Minnesota, will be applying for grant monies with
support through the Minnesota Pollution Control for Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations in
Ramsey's Parking Ramp. This partnership includes the National Park Service's unit along the
Mississippi River in Ramsey. The two EV stations would be on the second floor of the ramp,
and will be a $20,000 value with no cost or match required by the city. The ultimate funding
source is the U.S. Department of Energy Clean Cities program.
The purpose is to both encourage the use of EV vehicles in the metro for air quality benefits, but
moreover to encourage tourism along the river in the 72 -mile Mississippi National River and
Recreation Area. This is but one part in the Park Service's program to promote Alternative
Transportation in the park; and is also the same initiative that may be key to funding the
Mississippi Skyway over the highway — providing a pedestrian connection between The COR
and the Regional Park and trails.
A third, fourth and fifth ancillary benefit of the EV charging stations would be encouraging visits
to The COR by Electric Vehicle owners for shopping and ridership on the Northstar; and also for
potential tenants at The Residence.
