Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Discuss Economic Development Commission Recommendation TQ <br /> Establish An Ad Hoc Committee To Review Water Problems: <br /> <br />Mr. Hartley stated that EDC is recommending that Council consider establishing <br />an ad hoc committee to research high water problems in Ramsey. <br /> <br />Mr. Darryl Fults stated that he formulated this idea and presented it to EDC; <br />his intent was to have persons affected serve on the committee as an education <br />experience and to investigate whether or not the drainage ditches in Ramsey are <br />blocked. <br /> <br />Mayor Reimann inquired as to what kind of liability would be assumed by the <br />City cleaning and maintaining drainage ditches. <br /> <br />Mr. Goodrich replied that anything a governing body does is exposed to a <br />certain amount of liability; can't refuse to do anything because there is <br />liability. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Sorteberg and seconded by Councilmember Cox to <br />advertise in the Anoka Union and Ramsey Resident the City's desire to form a <br />Water Problem Ad Hoc Committee; any further action will be determined based on <br />the response to the advertisement. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Mr. Douglas Fountain stated that he served on the Landfill <br />Ad Hoc Committee; that Committee presented at least two recommendations for <br />Council action; to this date, nothing has been presented to Council; nothing <br />can be accomplished by ad hoc committee when no action takes place on their <br />recommendations. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Cox and <br />Schlueter. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Discuss Request From Economic Development Commission Re~ardin~ <br /> Use Of Landfill Trust Funds: <br /> <br />Ms. Norris stated that EDC is concerned about sources of funding for economic <br />development activities and wonders if Council would ever consider using <br />interest from the Landfill Trust funds derived from the sale of the landfill <br />for such activities. <br /> <br />Mayor Reimann suggested that EDC prepare an economic development activity <br />budget and present it to the Budget Committee for action during the City's <br />budget preparation now in progress. <br /> <br />Request For Support For The City Of Mounds View: <br /> <br />Mr. Hartley stated that Mounds View is requesting support for their efforts to <br /> August 26, 1986 <br /> <br />Page 22 of 25 <br /> <br /> <br />
