Commissioner Ostrum noted if the Commission does not give them direction on what they want, <br />this could go on forever. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns indicated that they do bear responsibility as well and they need to get things <br />moving and give more information each time they get revisions. <br /> <br />Commissioner Ostrum commented he would like to see a copy of the old report and the agenda. <br /> <br />Consensus of the Commission was to get comments to Parks Utilities Supervisor Riverblood by <br />next Wednesday's meeting. <br /> <br />Case #5: Parks Five-Year Capital Improvements Plan (CIP) <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood explained the purpose of this case is to both initiate <br />discussion on the 5-year Parks Plan, and propose that the Commission request City Council's <br />approval to move forward with the remaining two projects in the 2003 CIP. <br /> <br />Staff is recommend that the Commission request City Council's approval to move forward with <br />the remaining two projects in the 2003 CIP. Those are the Flintwood Terrace Shelter(s) and <br />Irrigation, and the trail connection from the Lake Itasca Trail Boardwalk to the neighborhood to <br />the east at 164th Avenue. <br /> <br />For the Flintwood Terrace Shelter and Irrigation, $75,000 would cover two shelters and irrigation <br />for that park. <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood explained the second project is connecting the 164th Lane <br />neighborhood with the Lake Itasca Trial Boardwalk. The $19,000 relates to the park dedication <br />which was earmarked for this. He stated there is not a lot of maintenance commitment for this <br />trail and will improve access in that area. <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood updated the Commission on the projects that were <br />approved and completed this past year. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns commented that they were looking to work on Stair Replacement and the <br />Observation Pier were slated for 2004. <br /> <br />Commissioner Lehman left at 7:18 p.m. <br /> <br />Commissioner Shryock inquired regarding if it was worth spending the money on a City golf <br />course or if they should leave the area natural for a park. <br /> <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood noted in October they should start talking about what the <br />Commission wants for future projects. <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission/September 11, 2003 <br /> Page 7 of 8 <br /> <br /> <br />
