Mayor Reimann stated that he respects the people using the river and those living on the river, but
as the shores of the river become developed, people want to use it. There shouldn't be any
reckless or careless use tolerated, but we shouldn't take away the fights of the people to use the
river.

Councilmember Cich asked how minimum wake is measured and who would measure it.

Mr. Weaver stated that the Anoka County Water Patrol would be the enforcing agency. The
purpose of this hearing is to receive input from the City; the County will be the enacting body of
the ordinance.

Mr. Dave Perkins, 15775 Juniper Ridge Drive N.W., stated that the river should be monitored and
patrolled, but he is opposed to any restrictions. There are some minor abusers, but he hasn't seen
anything that is a significant problem. He stated that he specifically bought fiver property to use it
and enjoy it. One big rain does more damage to the shoreline than the boats would do in a year.
While he thinks that speed boats should be allowed, he does agree that the fiver is too small for
water skiing.

ADJOURN

Motion by Councilmember DeLuca and seconded by Councilmember Peterson to adjourn the
public hearing.

Motion carried. Voting yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers DeLuca, Peterson, Cich and
Pearson. Voting no: None.

The public hearing adjourned at 7:55 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
Secretta-y

David R.
