14. <br /> <br />Adopt Resolution #89-05-106 approving pay estimate no. 6 to CBI Na-Con, Inc. for <br />Improvement Project #87-19 (elevated water storage tank and tower) in the amount of <br />$11,970.00. <br /> <br />15. Receive police report for the month of April, 1989. <br /> <br />16. Approve Certificate of Correction to Plat of Flintwood Hills 2nd Addition. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers DeLuca, Cich, Pearson and <br />Peterson. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />COUNCIL BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: Youth Program: <br /> <br />Ms. Claudia Dodge, Director of Ramsey's Community Education Department was present in <br />response to Council's request for consideration of a summer work program for the youth. Ms. <br />Dodge presented a proposal and budget for a Ramsey Trailblazer Program. The proposal consisted <br />of two 3-week work sessions at 24 hours per week with 5 students in each session. The proposed <br />wages are $2.75/hour, a Trailblazer t-shirt and transportation and a ticket to Valley Fair. The <br />program would also require employing a supervisor at 28 hours a week. <br /> <br />A discussion ensued regarding wages and fringe benefits to be offered in the youth work program. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Peterson and seconded by Councilmember DeLuca to establish the <br />"Ramsey Trailblazer Program" for the purpose of providing the Ramsey youth with work <br />experience and community pride. Further, that the following guidelines be established for the <br />Ramsey Trailblazer Program: a) the program will be offered to youth between the ages of 14 and <br />16 years of age; b) the rate of pay for youth will be $2.75/hour; c) all participating youth will <br />receive one free t-shirt; d) all participating youth achieving perfect attendance over the 3 week <br />session will receive a complimentary ticket to Valley Fair; e) a program supervisor will be <br />employed at a rate of $8.00/hour for 6 weeks at 28 hours per week; f) the program will be <br />administered by the Community Education Department. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Councilmember Peterson suggested that if there are not a sufficient number of <br />youth applicants to fill out two work sessions, youth from the first session should be able to also <br />participate in the second session. <br /> <br />Motion carded. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers DeLuca, Pearson, Cich and <br />Peterson. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #2: Site Plan Approval; Case Of Robert Brown (Production Design <br /> Products, Inc.): <br /> <br />Mr. Banwart stated that Mr. Brown is proposing to construct two expansions to his existing <br />building located at 14161 Basalt Street N.W. The Planning and Zoning Commission has <br />recommended site plan approval for Mr. Brown. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cich and seconded by Councilmember Peterson to approve Mr. Robert <br />Brown's request for site plan approval to expand the Production Design Products, Inc. facility at <br />14161 Basalt Street N.W. <br /> <br />City Council/May 23, 1989 <br />Page 6 of 14 <br /> <br /> <br />
