The <br />committee consisted of two Councilmembers, one member from the Planning <br />Commission, Hou~ng and Redevelopment Authority, Park Board, and <br />Economic Development Commission. <br /> <br />In April, the first meeting of' the Downtown Flood Plain Commirme <br />0DFPC)was held and focused on discussing the public issues r~lated to <br />redevelopment of the flood plain. <br /> <br />In June, the City Council approved purchase of 1603 Is~ Avenue and 1701 2ns <br />Avenue. A/so in June, the DFPC recommended goals and project boundaries <br />for the development to the HRA and Council. Soil borings began in the area <br />to idenlify soil tTpes and environmental condition. <br /> <br />· Staff created and distributed over 60 copies of the "Request for Information" <br /> for development concepts. Rottlund Homes was the only developer to <br /> respond. - <br /> <br />· Irt November, demolitions were completed at 1728 River Avenue;' I603 1st <br /> Avenue, and 1701 2r~ Avenue, in preparation of the flood plzirt development, <br /> <br />In June, the City purchased the Rum River Lumber Company property <br />bet.ween Golf and Van Buren Slreets. for $619,000. The property is a key <br />piece of the future redevelopment oft.he Notch Centml.
