IRT And The Chies Property Acquisition
By: James E. Norman, City Administrator
Scan Sullivan, TIF Specialist

CASE

Background:

Integrated Recycling Technologies (IRT) has been actively working with the City to bring about an expansion
project that will take place south of 141 st Avenue and may include property currently dedicated as Azurite
Street. IRT has recently had discussions with the City and is currently working on site plan drawings and
obtaining grant monies available to the recycling industry. The property north of IRT is being sold and a mini-
storage facility is planned on being constructed in 2002. As previously indicated, IRT plans to expand east and
this would require acquisition of the Lorraine B. Chies property. Both written and verbal contact has been made
with the owner as directed by the EDA and discussions regarding the sale of the property are being negotiated.
Pro-Source is currently working on appraisals for the properties located east of IRT. If direct negotiation fails
Staff will request the condemnation of the Chies property as part of the IRT expansion project.

EDA Action:

Based upon discussion.

Reviewed Checklist:

Tommunity Development Assistant
IF Specialist
City Administrator

EDA: 11.14.01
