Mayor Reimann referred to Item #22 of the Consent Agenda (application for certification as
Tree City USA from the National Arbor Day Foundation) and stated that the City of
Ramsey has initiated and participated in Arbor Day activities which should be recognized
on their own merit, not because the City sends in an application fee requesting to be
recognized.

City Council requested that City Staff research the cost to apply for Tree City USA.

MAYOR AND COUNCIL INPUT

a) Traffic conditions at 153rd Avenue and Hwy. #47

Councilmember Cich requested that City Staff draft a letter from the Mayor to Senator Dahl
and Representative Lynch requesting support of the City's efforts to have Mn/DOT study
the safety conditions at Hwy. #47 and 153rd Avenue N.W. and take action accordingly.

b) Lights at Central Park

Councilmember Peterson reported that the lights at Central Park are on until 11 p.m.
evenings.

Motion by Councilmember Peterson and seconded by Councilmember Cich directing City
Staff to purchase a timer system for the lights at Central Park.

Motion carried. Establishment of
an Appeals Board will be on a future Council agenda.

City Council/August 22, 1989
