Commissioner Lichter stated that the urban area development definitely needs review and updating. Commissioner Hendriksen stated that the park dedication should be park of a hearing process and the hearing should be published for any interested residents. Commissioner Shumway stated that the Ramsey Resident should contain Park Commission agendas so that the Park Commisison viii have more citizen contact to better understand park needs in the City. Discussion Re~arding Potential Corridors for Multiole Use Trail Commissioner Lichter stated that in the Northfork P.U.D. development, there will be trails for public and private use. Commissioner Shumway stated that he is concerned that the City is not meeting another need of riders. The riders club has offered to clear and maintain trails; there is no interest in this. Conmission Hendriksen stated that the City needs to consider facilities for all residents and various uses. Commissioner Shumway stated that City staff should not be determininE trail corridors. Commissioner ltendriksen stated that they should look at various points on the City map which might lo§ically be linked by trails such as: l~orthfork park, Whispering Pines park, Mississippi River park, Rum River Central park, Ramsey Elementary School park, Boy Scouts park, and Wayside park. Commissioner Lichter commented that when the Comprehensive Park plan is updated, the various user groups should be notified for their input. Commission Lichter also stated that he was in favor of using the Troll Brook corridor for certain trails such as cross country skiing. Commissioner Zimmerman suggested that trails may go where there are power and utility easements and rights-of-way. Commissioner Hendriksen stated that the City needs to plan for trail alignments whether the land is developed or undeveloped. Commissioner Zimmerman stated that in the past, the City has been reluctant to develop trails. Chairman Peterson stated that at public hearings regarding bicycle and pedestrian trails, most people were opposed to such development and there was little support because of the concern that the City is providing trails for non-residents.
