labor force looking for alternative employment is a good indicator to potential businesses that
there is a pool of local labor available to work. '"

The Iow response to students wanting a local job after graduation can be attributed to the fact
that at least 48,4 % of high school graduates in the area go on to college. Further, this rate can
be explained by the small number of high school age people that filled out the survey. Students
not attending college but other forms of continuing education such as AVTI's also responded to the
survey as not being interested in a local job after graduation.

Labor Force By Sex: Persons 16 Years and over

RAMSEY ;URVEY RAMSEY 1980 METRO AREA*

Number Percent Number Percent Number Percent
Male 387 48.8 21862 60 608~638 55.4
Female 395 49.9 1,891 4 0 490,836 44.6
No Response 1 0 1.3
Total 792 1 00 41755 I 00 1,099,474 1 00

Table 2 shows an increase in the female work force available and the females working today in
comparison to the work force of 1980.
