Ramsey Volunteer Fire Department, the association shall pay to such member the sum of <br />$400.00 each year that he/she served as an active member of the Ramsey Volunteer Fire <br />Department. If a member who has received such a disability pension should subsequently <br />recover and return to active duty in the Ramsey Volunteer Fire Department, any amount <br />paid to him/her as a disability pension, shall be deducted from his/her service pension. <br /> <br />SECTION 2, SItORT TERM DISABILITY BENEFITS. <br /> <br />If a member of this association (except those who are on the deferred or early vested <br />pension roll) shall become sick or disabled by reason of illness or injury in the performance <br />of his/her duty as a fire fighter of the City of Ramsey, which disability or sickness prevents <br />him/her from performing the usual tasks of the member's regular employment, and who is <br />under the care of a physician shall be entitled to a benefit of five dollars ($5.00) per day for <br />each day of such illness or disability not exceeding a five (5) day work week and a total of <br />one hundred (100) working days. Applications for short term disability benefits shall be <br />made by or on behalf of the applicant within ten (10) days after the disability or sickness <br />commences. <br /> <br />ARTICLE VIII, DEATH BENEFITS AND PENSIONS. <br /> <br />SECTION 1, DEATH BENEFIT. <br /> <br />Upon the death of any member of the association, who is in good standing at the time of <br />his/her death, the association shall pay to the his/her beneficiary and if no beneficiary has <br />been named, then such payment would go to his/her surviving spouse, child, or children or <br />estate respectively, the sum of $400.00 for each year that he/she served as an active <br />member of the Ramsey Volunteer Fire Department. <br /> <br />SECTION 2, SERVICE PENSIONS. <br /> <br />The association shall pay to each member, who shall have served as an active fire fighter in <br />the Ramsey Volunteer Fire Department for a period of 20 years or more prior to his/her <br />resignation from said fire department, and who has reached the age of 50 years or more, <br />and who has been a member of the association for at least 10 years, the sum of $400.00 for <br />each year that he/she served as an active member of the Ramsey Volunteer Fire Department. <br /> <br />SECTION 3, DEFERRED SERVICE PENSIONS. <br /> <br />A member of the association who shall have served in the Ramsey Volunteer Fire <br />Department for at least 20 years, but has not reached the age of 50 years, may retire from <br />said fire department and be placed on the deferred pension roll. When he/she reaches the <br />age of 50 years, and provided that at the time he/she has been a member of the association <br />for at least 10 years, upon application therefore he/she shall be paid the sum of $400.00 for <br />each year served as an active fire fighter in the Ramsey Volunteer Fire Department. During <br />the time that a member is on the deferred pension roll, he/she shall continue to pay dues, <br />and he/she will not be eligible to receive any of the benefits provided for in Article VII. <br />During the time that a member is on the deferred pension roll, the association shall add to <br />the amount payable to such member interest, compounded annually, at the rate actually <br />earned on the assets of the Special Fund, but not to exceed the rate specified by law. If a <br />member dies while on the deferred pension roll, the total sum applicable at the time of death <br />shall be paid to his/her named beneficiary and if no beneficiary has been named, then to his <br />surviving spouse, child or children or estate respectively. <br /> <br /> <br />
