PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION <br />PUBLIC HEARING <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MI, NNESOTA <br /> <br />Thc Ramsey Planning and Zoning Commission conducted a public hearing on Tuesday, March 6, <br />1990 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota <br />regarding Anoka County's request for a conditional use permit to site a communications receiving <br />pole on the proposed Lot 2, Block 1, Autumn Heights Addition. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mr. Gerald Zimmerman, Chairman <br />Mr. Chmles L',ff)ue <br />Mr. Terry Hendriksen <br />Mr. David Bawden <br />Mr. Ben Deemer <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Community Development Director Mark Banwar~ <br /> <br />Members Absent: Mr. Michael Terry <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Chairman Zimmerman called the public hearing to order at 7:39 p.m. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION <br /> <br />Morrie Mox was present representing Anoka County. Morrie Mox stated that throughout Anoka <br />County, the police and fire departments have a joint communication system with many receiver <br />sites (15) to improve communication between police and fire. The range of the portable radios is <br />limited to 5 miles and there is a need for a receiver site in Rarnsey. The proposed receiver site <br />consists of a 50 foot telephone pole, 9'x9' shelter building and security fencing. There will be no <br />':ransmitting or harmful radiation emitting from the proposed site. If receiving deficiencies <br />continue, there would have to be more receiver sites established in Ramsey and the maximum sites <br />that would be required in Ramsey is 3. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />Mr. Banwart noted that the proposed equipment shelter building is less than 120 square' feet and <br />will not require a building permit. <br /> <br />Gil Besik - 8615 168th Avenue N.W. - Inquired if the receiver pole will be lighted, what type of <br />fencing is proposed and what k/nd of materials will be used on the equipment shelter. Gil Besik <br />also noted that the subject area is heavily treed and inquired if care will be taken to not damage or <br />remove trees during the construction of the site. <br /> <br />Joe Schaefbauer - 8662 168th Avenue N.W. - Inquired as to why the receiver is being sited in a <br />residential neighborhood versus an undeveloped area. <br /> <br />Commissioner Deemer replied that the subject property is zoned for commercial use. <br /> <br />Planning & Zoning Commission Public Hearin~,,dMarch 6, 1990 <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
