STATE OF

DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
METRO REGION WATERS - 1200 WARNER ROAD, ST. PAUL, MN 55106
PHONE NO. 296-7523

FILE NO.

August 16, 1990

Ms. Sylvia Frolik
City of Ramsey
15153 Nowthen Blvd. NW
Ramsey, MN 55303

Dear Ms. Frolik:

RE: PROPOSED FAYE ADDITION, CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY

With the assistance of intern Bob Effinger, I have reviewed the
proposed Faye Addition and have the following comments:

1) No part of the platted area lies within
floodplain; therefore, there appears to be
concerns.

the lO0-year
no floodplain

2)

The subdivision lies within the Critical River Corridor. Under
the City of Ramsey Environmental Protection Ordinance, the
minimum lot size allowed in the corridor for the proposed lots
is 20,000 square feet and the minimum lot width is 125-feet.
It appears that only 6 of the 74 lots meet the minimum lot
size, and few meet the minimum lot width. All lots appear to
meet the minimum ordinary high water setback of lO0-feet.

3)

Erosion control practices should be adequately designed for
site characteristics, as outlined in "Protecting Water Quality
for Urban Areas, Best Management Practices for Minnesota" which
is available from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (Wayne
Anderson @ 296-7323).

4)

Construction dewatering which exceeds 10,000 gallons per day or
i million gallons per year would require a water appropriation
permit.

Thank you for the opportunity to comment. Please call if you have
questions.

Sincerely,

Tom Hovey
Area Hydrologist

T270:kap

CC'.

Rand K1 uegel, EQBAN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER
