Commissioner Van Scoy stated his question is how much water will be pumped into the
wetlands.

City Engineer Jankowski stated since Alpine Acres began their dewatering they have put several
gauges in spots along the wetlands, and Staff has been monitoring those gauges daily, including
weekends. He stated they are allowing the developer to turn on more pumps as appropriate based
on what the gauges show on any given day. He indicated the water has gone up about 7/10ths of
a foot to date.

Chairperson Nixt asked how long the dewatering will continue.

City Engineer Jankowski stated probably through early winter.

Commissioner Van Scoy asked what safeguards the City has in place.

City Engineer Jankowski stated they are monitoring the situation daily, and if they received a
concern or complaint from anyone concerned about it getting too close to something on their
property they will address it promptly. He indicated they have done research around the wetland
to see what might be in danger, and are allowing the water to rise in slow increments. He stated
usually they will get a phone call if something is in danger, which is one of the reasons they try to
keep the rise slow.

Commissioner Van Scoy stated it seemed excessive to him, and he did not know why. He just
wanted to know what the City was doing to safeguard the area.

City Engineer Jankowski reiterated they are monitoring daily, including weekends, and allowing
pumps to go on incrementally based on the water gauges.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

Motion by Chairperson Nixt, seconded by Commissioner Johnson, to approve the agenda as
presented.

Motion carried.
