CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION <br />Topic Report: Dissemination of Public <br />Information <br />By: James E. Norman, City Administrator <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />In May of 1999, the City Council developed policy and work session for information <br />requests from the public. Because some of the requests for information were becoming <br />expensive, a new fee system was established for copies for public information requests. <br />(Minutes from May 18, 1999 attached.) <br /> <br />Recently a resident has been requested a new form of public information request. The <br />request requires that Staff notify the individual when something is to occur in the future. <br />This raised a great deal of complications for the City. The open ended nature to the <br />request places a great deal of reliability with the City if the request is not addressed at <br />some future date. The City Attorney and Staff will discuss the possibility of a policy <br />development that would require all requests be specific in nature and not be open ended. <br /> <br />Action Statement: <br /> <br />Based on Discussion. <br /> <br />CCWS: 11/10/03 <br /> <br /> <br />
