PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION <br />PUBLIC ItEARING <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Planning and Zoning Commission conducted a public hearing on Tuesday, <br />Ma5' 2, 1989 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, <br />Minnesota regarding Mr. Lee A Hennen's request for prelin'finary plat approval of Delwood <br />Hills Addition. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mr. Gerald Zimmerman, Chairman <br />IX/Lt. Charles LaDue <br />Mr. Terry Hendriksen <br />Mr. Michael Ten3, <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Community Development Director Mark Banwart <br />Mr. Merland Otto/Hakanson Anderson Associates <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />Mr. Jim Holm <br />Mr. Roy Shumway <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Chairman Zimmerman called the public hearing to order at 7:40 p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />Mr. Lee Hennen and his surveyor, Mr. Tom O'Malley, were present. Mr. O'Malley stated <br />that the proposed plat of Delwood Hills consists of 9 single family residential lots <br />avera~ng 2.5 acres in size. <br /> <br />Mr. Tim Dusbabek - 7821 171st Avenue N.W. - Read the following letter: <br /> <br />"This letter is in regards to the proposed Dellwood Hills Addition. We have some concerns <br />that we would like to address. <br /> <br />The £n'st concern is the increase in traffic past our homes. The section of 171st Avenue <br />N.W. that links Bison Street to Zeolite Avenue currently serves as the route of choice for <br />the present homeowners on Bison Street to go south to Variolite Avenue. "Fne alternative is <br />to go north on Bison Street to County Road 63, east to Variolite and then south. <br />Subsequently, with more homes being built on Bison, the traffic flow will obviously <br />increase. We feel that this increase would have an adverse affect on our neighborhood <br />considering the number of families with young children under the age of 12. Along the <br />route 171st to Zeolite to 169th, alone, out of 22 homes, 17 have children under the age of <br />12. More traffic just means a ~eater risk of a child getting hurt. <br /> <br />Our second concern is that nine homes may not appear to pose much of a traffic increase, <br />however, there is considerable undeveloped land to the south of the proposed development <br />and if that land is developed into residential housing and no other improvements are made <br /> <br />Planning & Zoning Public HearingJMay 2, 1989 <br /> Page 1 of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
