Council recessed at 9:08 p.m. Mayor Reimann called the meeting back to order al 9:20 p.m. Case #16: EAX, V For 153rd Avenue N.'~:V.: Mr. Otto reported ;hat an Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW~ has been prepared for the prefc~ed, alignment of 153rd Avenue N.W. Mr. Otto reouested Council approval of the EAW for submitta! to the Environmental Quality Board. Mr. Otto reviewed the contents of the EAW with Cit.',' Council. Mr. Otto also referred to Council's suggestior: that consideration be given to realigning the curve and forcing the road more towards the wetland area and stated that DNR has indicated they will not approve such an alignment ~cause there is a p~dent and feasible alternative. Douglas Fountain - 15255 Garnet Street - Stated that he agrees with Councilmember DeLuca that the center route versus the southerly route is the best alignment for 153rd. Mr. Fountain referred to the EAW and stated that item #27.d should indicate that there is an impairment or destruction of scenic views and vistas. Councilmember Pearson inquired if submitting the EAW to EQB for the southerly route commits the CiD' to the southerly route. Mr. Otto replied that submittal of the EAW for the southerly route implies selection of that route; ff another route is selected, it will also require an EAW. Councilmember DeLuca asked that Council consider the future needs of the City when selecting a route for 153rd; eventually, 153rd will have to ~ 4 lane, east/west thoroughfare and it should be planned for accordingly. Motion by Councilmember Pearson and seconded by Councilmember Cich to approve subn'fittal of the Emdronmental Assessment Worksheet to the En'dronmental Qualiu, Board and to publish notice of it's availability.
