Voting No: None, <br /> <br />MAYOR AND COUNCIL INPUT <br /> <br />a) Proposed no wake ordinance for Rum River <br /> <br />Mr. Raatikka stated that the Lower Rum River Water Management Organization has revised the <br />proposed ordinance for wake control on the Rum River by deleting all references to boat <br />horsepower and speed and adding language requiring that watercraft be operated at speeds that <br />will not create more than a minimum wake, restricting water skiing from quiet water areas, <br />with quiet water areas to be designated by each of the affected cities. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember DeLuca and seconded by Councilmember Peterson to schedule a public <br />hearing for 7:30 p.m. on February 14, 1989 regarding the proposed ordinance for wake control <br />along the Rum River. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Counciimembers DeLuca, Pearson, Peterson and <br />Cich. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />b) The hiring of two additional police officers <br /> <br />Councilmember Cich suggested that the necessary steps be set in motion to hire two additional <br />police officers as approved in the 1988 budget. <br /> <br />Mayor Reimann suggested that the hiring of two additional police officers be added to the January <br />25, 1989 Personnel Committee agenda. <br /> <br />Mayor Reimann also directed that the status of hiring an additional public works maintenance <br />worker also be added to the January 25 Personnel Committee meeting agenda. <br /> <br />c) Response to Citizen input comment regardin2 ad for bids for airport construction <br /> <br />Mr. Otto stated that the notice in the Dodge Report regarding the construction of an airport in <br />Ramsey does not accurately reflect the conversation he had with the Dodge staff. Typically, <br />Dodge calls to see how projects are progressing and Mr. Otto stated that he had indicated to Dodge <br />that design or construction could begin in one year's time. <br /> <br />Mayor Reimann inquired as to the status o~ the airport project. <br /> <br />Mr. Otto replied that just following the Christmas holidays, FAA indicated that their review of <br />the environmental report on Gateway improvements should be compiete in 30-60 days.
