Meeting Date: 06/25/2013 Submitted For: Kurt Ulrich By: Jo Thieling, Administrative Services Information Title: Adopt Resolution #13-06-108 Requesting that Anoka County Housing and redevelopment Authority (ACHRA) Allocate $361,000 of its 2013 Levy Toward the Purchase of the Property at 6701 Highway 10 NW in the City of Ramsey and Resolution #13-06-109 Declaring the City of Ramsey Support of Anoka County and its County -Wide Economic Development Objectives and Activities Background: At the HRA meeting of May 14, 2013, the HRA was advised that the owner of 6710 Highway 10 NW had accepted the HRA's offer of $361,000 for the purchase of that property. The HRA had been advised that there are sufficient funds through the Anoka County HRA (ACHRA) if the City designated Anoka County as a development arm of Ramsey. At the June 11, 2013 City Council Work Session, Ms. Karen Skepper, Anoka County Director of Community and Government Relations and Executive Director of the ACHRA was present to give a brief overview of the program as well as answer any questions Council had with regard to the funding. In order for the funds to become available for the purchase of property, the Ramsey City Council must formally adopt resolutions requesting the funding as well as authorizing the ACHRA to perform economic development activities. Consensus of the Council was to direct staff to draft the resolutions authorizing the ACHRA to perform economic development activities and requesting allocation of funds toward the purchase of the property at 6710 Higwhay 10 NW. Those resolutions have been drafted and are included with this report for Council review and formal adoption. Recommendation: Staff recommends Council adopt the resolutions rerquesting funding from the ACHRA for the purchase of the property at 6710 Highway 10 NW and authorizing the ACHRA to perform economic development activities.
