Councilmember DeLuca introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />Resolution ."68.234 <br /> <br />Resolution authori=ing <br />Demonstration Project <br />Demonstration Program, <br /> <br />submittal of application lo Metropolitan Landfill Abalemenl Fund <br />Grant for 1he City of Ramse¥ Decenlrali:'ed Brush Chipping <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, Section ,473.844 of 1he Minnesota Waste Management Ac1 <br />authorizes Metropolitan Council lo make grants for landfill abatement activities; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, funding for Metropolitan Council's programs comes from Metropolitan Landfill <br />Abalement Fund, which is generated from receipt of 25 cents per cubic yard of solid waste <br />accepted and disposed of at Municipal Solid Waste Landfills in the IJ, etropoli~an area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Metropolitan Council's grant programs are available to assist 1he region in meeting <br />its goal of dk, erting 20%, or more, of the solid waste currently generated from being landfilled, <br />using Iow-lechnology abatement approaches, by the )'ear 1990; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, one of these programs is the DEMONSTRATION PROJECT GRANTS, which are designed <br />to establish working models of innovative approaches 1o landfill abatement in the seven courtly <br />h,4etropoli~an Area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, demonslration projects are experimental in nature and are intended to 1esl new <br />melhods of instilutional relationships that, if successful, can be replicaled through-out the <br />region; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, State S;atutes will prohibit disposal of prunings (woody wastes) in tandfi]!s by Jul), <br />1, 1990, ~nd; ~ <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey Landfill Commission has been working on a grant proposal for the <br />City of Ramsey Decemrallzed Brush Chipping Demonstration Program. <br /> <br />NO\¥ THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Ct:)' Council o; the City of Ramsey, Anoka Count),, <br />Stale of Minnesota, hereby authorizes the submittal of ~n application to the l,/,e~ropolitan <br />Lc-ndfil] Abatemen~ Fund Demons~r21ion Pro, eot Grant for the City of R~-msey Decenlrali:ed <br />Brush Chipping Demons:ration Program.. <br /> <br />lvlotion for the adoption of the aforegoing resolution v,'zs duly seconded by Counciimember <br />Bawden and upon vote bein~ taken thereon, the following voted in favor of: <br /> <br />Mayor Ga,'), Reimann <br />Councilmember Stephen F.
