Case

POSSIBLE ACQUISITION OF LANDS ADJACENT TO
RAMSEY MUNICIPAL CENTER
By: Mark S. Banwart, Community Development Director

#6

Background:

Since the UNWFED POWER ASSOCIATION (UPA) will be planing the parcel of land immediately
North of the Ramsey Municipal Center (City Hall) as a minor subdivision to include a portion for a
substation; it is an opportune time for the City to consider acquisition of this parcel for City
purposes. CiD' purposes may include:

Road Access to 153rd Avenue Northwest to provide better in,ess
and egress access 153rd Avenue Northwest will be a major East-
West road connection across the City for both the Police and Fire
Departments

Long-term expansion needs of the Municipal Center (CiD, Hall) ~~
Relocation of Public Works facilities (garages)

Observations:

The UPA in collaboration with the property owner will be initiating the platting process for the
property immediately No,nh and adjacent to the Municipal ActixSD' Center (City Hall). It would be
timely to initiate acquisition of certain portions or all of this parcel prior to final platting of said
effort. Such acquisition should minimize costs for both the subdivider and the CID,.

Recommendations:

Staff recommends that City staff be directed to commence negotiations for land acquisition with
property owner(s) of lands irm'nediately North and abutting the Municipal Activity Center (City
Hall). The amount of land acquisition should be sufficient to address road access to 153rd Ave.
N.W. In addition, there should be consideration of using a portion of these lands, if not all, for
the future site of the Public Works Department and facilities.

Council Action:

Motion to: Direct staff to negotiate land acquisition c)~lands immediately North and abutting the
Municipal Activity Center (Ci~, Hall). . //,/
/

Review Chec -klist:

City Administrator X
CiD, Attorney X
CiD' Engineer .
