CASE # 7 <br /> <br />CONSIDER FIRE PROTECTION CONTRACT WITH <br />ANOKA-CHAMPLIN JOINT FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />By: Dave Hartley, City Administrator <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Currently the City of Ramsey receives fire protection services from the Anoka-Champlin Joint <br />Fire Department and the Elk River Fire Department. Annually the City of Ramsey enters into a <br />contract for fire protection with each of these communities. Before the City Council at this time <br />is the contract for fire protection and emergency services with the Anoka-Champlin Joint Fire <br />Department. The contract is essentially the same as in previous years with the exception of the <br />rate which has been increased from 1.1 mills to 1.25 mills, the effect of which is an increase of <br />S6,990 (the old rate would have been $51,262; the new rale results in an annual bill of <br />$58,252). <br /> <br />Allhough not changed from last year's contract, there is a clause that describes the required two <br />year writlen notice for termination of the agreement. It is the intention of Staff to change this <br />clause so the term of the agreement lasts until December 31, 1990. <br /> <br />It is Staff's recommendation that the City Council enter into this agreement with the <br />aforementioned modification in 1erin of contract. <br /> <br />Enclosed for your information is a letter from Anoka City Manager Mark Nagel and a copy of the <br />contract for fire protection and emergency services for 1989 with the Anoka-Champlin Joint <br />Fire Deparlment. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion to: <br />Enter into contract with the Anoks-Champiin Joint Fire Department for fire protection <br />services until December 31, 1990. <br /> <br />Review Checklist: <br /> <br />city Administrator <br />Ct, fy Attorney <br />City Engineer <br />Ccmmunitv D_,,el~,.,,,,en, Director <br /> <br />Chief of Police <br />Finance Officer <br />Pubiic Works Superintendent <br />Fire Chief <br /> <br /> <br />
