Levine, Minnesota Department of <br />Transportation (Mn/DOT), today announced the availability of federal funds for <br />specialized transit services. Mn/DOT is offering $625,969:federal dollars toward <br />the purchase of vehicles.equipped to transport elderly and handicapped people in <br />Minnesota. <br /> <br /> Private, non-profit organizations serving the elderly and handicapped <br />are eligible to apply for the federal transit assistance. The funds will provide <br />80 percent of the cost of the vehicle. The applicant must provide the remaining <br />20 percent, as well as all operating expenses. <br /> <br /> Applications are available from Mn/DOT. The application consists of a <br />seven-step process with six required deadlines. The first deadline is <br />February 15, 1989.
