<br />G. MEMBERS METHOD OF SELECTION - TERM OF OFFICE REMOVAL
<br />1. The chairperson shall be selecled annually by a majority vole of the board. The
<br /> chairperson may be removed by a majority vote of the board. The chairperson shall have
<br /> the following responsibilities in addition to those otherwise described herein:
<br /> a. Preside over all meetings of the board.
<br /> b. Appear or appoint a representative Io appear, as necessary, before the city advisory
<br /> boards and the City Council to present the viewpoint of the board on matters perlaining
<br /> lo the fire safety lunclion of 1he City as it relates to business under consideration by
<br /> said board or City Council.
<br /> c. Review all City Council, Planning Commission and other advisory board minutes and
<br /> inform the Fire Board of molters relevant to the fire safety function of the City.
<br /> d. Provide liaison wilh other governmental and volunteer units in matters rela;;n2 to the
<br /> fire safety function of the City.
<br /> e. Prepare agendas for each board meeting.
<br />2. A vice chairperson shall be appoinled annually by the chairperson. The vice chairperson
<br /> shall perform such duties as may be assigned by the chairperson and shall assume
<br /> responsibilities of the chair in the absence of the chairperson.
<br />3. Members of the board shall be appointed by a majority vote of the City Council for terms of
<br /> three years, except that any person appointed to fill a vacancy occurring prior '~o the
<br /> expiration of the term for which his predecessor was appointed shall be appointed only for
<br /> the remainder of such term.
<br />4. Members of the board shall be residents of the City of Ramsey while serving on the board
<br /> and shall represent a broad range of interest in the fire safety funcdon of the City.
<br />5. The board became effective on their first meeting on August 15, 1988.
<br />6. Members may resign voluntarily or may be removed from office by a majority vote of the
<br /> City Council. Three consecutive unexcused absent, es from duly called board meetings shall
<br /> constitute automatic resignation from office. Vacancies in the board are to be filied by City
<br /> Council appointment with a majority vote.
<br />7. Members shall se~,e without compensation.

<br />The board shall adopt such rules and procedures not in~.onsistent with these provisions as may
<br />be necessaw for the proper execution and condus, t of business.
