CASE <br /> <br /> CONSIDER PURCHASE OF LAND ADJACENT <br />TO THE RAMSEY MUNICIPAL CENTER PROPERTY <br />By: Dave Hartley, City Administralor <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />At the City Council's last re~cular meetin~q, Staff was instructed to inquire into lhe availabilhy of <br />property owned by Stephen and Gloria Holasek w~ich abuts two sides of the Ramsey Municipal <br />Center property. As was reporled to the Council at that meeting, the possibility or potential for <br />use of this property is great, although specific plans have not yet been identified. Some of the <br />more urgent concerns, however, are the need for area to establish a drainfield for storm water <br />runoff, fire deDarlment parking, and storage area tor City vehicles when the garage is used for <br />fire fighting equipmenl. <br /> <br /> ,,,,-,,,e ..... the Holaseks, it was determined that it would be in the City's best <br /> ~,,s,..,~ss,, ~ this ~" ' <br />interest to obtain a purchase agreement on the property at a price of $60,000 for 24.4 acres <br />(price per acre: $2,459). <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />II is Staff's slrongest recommendation that the City Council consider favorably the purchase of <br />lhis property for the following reasons: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />The property is adjacent to property owned by the City and would facilitate the <br />most efficient use of public property in the future; <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />There have been sited numerous potential uses for this property for pubiic <br />purpose; <br /> <br />3 ) The price and terms of purchase of this property are very favorable. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion to: <br />Authorize the Mayor and City Administrator to negotiate final terms and conditions for <br />the purchase of the Holasek property and execute all relevant documents necessary to <br />accomplish said purchase, not 1o exceed 1he terms and condilions set by a purchase <br />agreement entered into by the Holaseks and City Administrator David Hartley on <br />February 3, 1989. <br /> <br />Review Checklist: <br /> <br />Administrator <br />Attorney <br />E,q¢ineer <br />,...,.,mmunity Development Director <br /> <br />Chief of Poiice <br />Finance Officer <br />Public Works Superintendent <br />Other <br /> <br /> <br />
