PROJECT ACTIVITY: The purpose of this project is to upgrade handicap accessibiliW to public buildings. The City is concerned about the handicap accessibility of it's buildings and is desirous of adding and modifying features of ifs buildings to increase handicap accessibiliW. Some of the proposed improvements would include electric activated door openers and improved ramps which meet proper widths and grades in accessibility ramps. PROJECT DURATION: The proposed improvements arc scheduled to begin in May 1989 and to be completed no later than December 1989. PROJECT ADDRESSES COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES: The upgrading of handicap accessibility to public buildings (as stated before) addresses the concerns of pro~hding better access to all of the community to public buildings. FUNDING: 1. Total revenue: Bid: Approximately $26,000 2. Total CDBG revenues needed: $26,000 Although the exact dollar amount of the proposed project is not kno~m at this time, the approximate cost of the electrical activated doors are approximately $3,000 each and.other ramp work is unknown at this time. 1989 CDBG funds would also be used for necessaw engineering and architectural services needed to properly design and super~dse installation of these upgraded features of handicap accessibility to public building. PROJECT AREA: The service area of these improvements wilt benefit all current and future handicapped individuals in and around the City of Ramsey who may want to obtain access to CiW of Ramsey public buildings.
