CASE #10 REVIEW REMODELING PLANS FOR RAMSEY MUNICIPAL CENTER By: Dave Hartley, City Administrator Background: Over the past year we have reviewed several reasons for considering remodeling of the Ramsey Municipal Center. Currently the Finance Department is located a greal distance away from the other administrative functions of the City and the Police Department has expressed a need for additional space. Crowded conditions exist in the adminislrative offices, especially for the Community Development Department. By adding the Fire Department and its needs into the building, there is a further need to relocate offices and remodel to accommodale the special Fire Department functions. Additionally, there are parts of the facility that are showing signs of wear and tear, and remodeling should address these needs as well. As we look at the remodeling needs of the Municipal Center, we also want to keep an eye on the future needs for expansion which will naturally come about as a result of growing demands for public services. The objectives of remodeling are to provide an efficient environment in which to offer public services, respond to the specialized needs of the various departments, relieve the crowded working conditions, and provide an aura of openness to the public. Mr. Jim Hilts from Graphic Design Architects will be available to discuss the drawings and sketches which reflect the plans and solutions to the City's needs at the Council meeting. Councilmembers will receive drawings and sketches at the earliest possible date prior to the Council meeting. Recommendation: Council action will be to discuss and review the proposed remodeling plans.
