CASE #11 <br /> <br />CONSIDER FIRE PROTECTION CONTRACT <br />WITH THE CITY OF ELK RIVER FOR <br />SERVICES OF THEIR FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />By: Dave Hartley, City Administrator <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Annually the City of Ramsey enters into a contract for fire protection services from the Anoka- <br />Champlin Joint Fire Department and the Elk River Fire Department. <br /> <br />At the Council's regular meeting of January 24, 1989 the Council approved the Anoka- <br />Champlin Joint Fire Department contract renewal with a modification that established the term <br />of the agreement as lasting until December 31, 1990. In addition, the Council approved <br />payment of the 1989 base contract amount of $58,252.36; the City realized a 1989 cost <br />increase of $6,990 or 14%. <br /> <br />The City of Elk River has now forwarded copies of the proposed contract for fire protection <br />services in the year of 1989. The duration of the contract is for one year, subject to <br />cancellation by either party upon thirty (30) days notice in writing to the other party. <br />Submitted with the contract is their invoice in the amount of $10,953.62; this represents an <br />increase of $1,167 or 12%. <br /> <br />Enclosed for your information is a letter from the City of Elk River's Finance Director an, d a <br />copy of the contract for fire protection and emergency services for 1989 with the Elk River <br />Fire Department. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />It is Staff's recommendation that the City Council enter into this contract as proposed. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion to: <br />Enter into the 1989 fire contract with the City of Elk River for fire protection services. <br /> <br />Review Checklist: <br /> <br />City Administrator <br />City Attorney <br />City Engineer <br />Community Development Director <br /> <br />X <br /> <br />Chief of Police <br />Finance Officer X <br />Public Works Superintendent <br />Fire Chief X <br /> <br /> <br />
