CASE # 12 <br /> <br />AUTHORIZE ADVERTISING FOR BIDS FOR <br />LANDSCAPE AND GROUNDS MAINTENANCE SERVICES <br />By: Merle Mevissen, Public Works Superintendent <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />In 1988 the City Council wanted to try contracting out the landscape and grounds maintenance. <br />We received proposals in March of 1988 and they were higher than anticipated so it was <br />dropped for 1988. The previous Council wanted to try it again in 1989 for some of the parks Io <br />compare costs of contracting out versus City crews doing the work. <br /> <br />Observations: <br /> <br />We split the City parks into two zones, north half and south half, with the City maintaining the <br />north half and contracting out the south half using the grounds maintenance specifications. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />I recommend advertising for bids for landscape and grounds maintenance. <br /> <br />Review Checklist: <br /> <br />City Administrator <br />City Attorney <br />City Engineer <br />Community Development Director <br /> <br />Chief of Police <br />Finance Officer <br />Public Works Superintendent <br />Other <br /> <br />X <br /> <br /> <br />
