COUNCIL MEMO FORM <br />7.1.A <br />Meeting Date <br />Agenda Section <br />Item Description <br />Submitted By <br />August 5, 2013 <br />Planning Commission <br />RES/ Comprehensive Plan Land Use Amendment; Rum River Shores <br />Crystal Paumen, AICP, Associate Planner <br />BACKGROUND INFORMATION: <br />Landmark Development of Anoka is requesting an amendment to the 2030 Comprehensive Plan Land Use Map <br />facilitate a single-family residential development. <br />The 22.5 developable acres is guided for two different land uses —low density residential on the western half <br />and medium density residential on the eastern half. As shown in Exhibit A attached, the Low Density <br />Residential area is approximately 12.8 acres and located entirely within the Rum River Wild and Scenic River <br />District. The Medium Density Residential area is approximately 9.7 acres and located east of the Rum River <br />Wild and Scenic River District. The comprehensive plan amendment request is for 9.7 acres generally located <br />north of County Road 116, west of the Rum River Library and is located outside of the Rum River Wild and <br />Scenic River District. The property is guided Medium Density Residential in the Comprehensive Plan and the <br />applicant has requested an amendment to change the land use to Low Density Residential to facilitate a single- <br />family residential development. <br />The Planning Commission held a public hearing for this item on July 9, 2013 and recommended approval of the <br />proposed amendment. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />NA <br />COUNCIL REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Adopt the resolution approving the Comprehensive Plan Land Use Map Amendment. <br />
