RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION RELATING TO ESTABLISHING EROSION <br /> CONTROLS AND LIMITING THE WAKE FROM BOATS <br /> AND WATERSKIING ON THE LO~R RUM RIVER <br /> AND ESTABLISHING QUIET WATER AREAS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Lower RumRiver Watershed Management Organization has <br />been contacted by property owners living on the Lower Rum River who are <br />concerned by erosion of banks and shorelines abutting the River, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, boats creating a heavy wake have anegative effect on the <br />safety of people canoeing, swimming, or passively using the River, and <br /> <br /> ~EREAS, the Lower Rum River Watershed Management Organization has <br />contacted the County of Anoka which has indicated that the County Board is <br />willing to consider an ordinance limiting the wake of boats using the river <br />and prohibiting waterskiing and if the County Board knows specificall3 what <br />the Cities comprising the Lower Rum River Watershed Management <br />Organization want the County Board to adopt, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Lower Rum River Watershed Management Organization has <br />studied the issue and has recommended to this Council a draft of a model <br />ordinance to be presented to the Anoka County Board for adoption, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has reviewed the proposed ordinance and the <br />provisions contained therein, <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the City Council of the City of · as follows: <br /> <br /> 1. The recommendations of the Lower Rum River Watershed <br />Management Organization for adoption of anordinance establishing erosion <br />controls and limiting the wake from boats and waterskiing behind boats <br />operating on a portion of the Lower Rum River is deemed to be in the best <br />interests of the public. <br /> <br /> 2. The attached proposed ordinance is hereby returned to the <br />Lower Rum River Watershed Management Organization with the following <br />suggested changes and the model ordinance should be sent on to Anoka County <br />for adoption. This City Council approves the terms contained therein and <br />agrees with the necessity for adopting such an ordinance. <br /> <br /> 3.
