Option #2 For A 95 Cord Oper0tion;

One straight column in the side yard containing 35 cords of wood.
One L shape column in the side yard containing 40 cords of wood.
One column parallel to rear property line containing 20 cords of wood.
Store equipment on the interior of the L column.
If selected, Fire Chief recommends immediate implementation.

.,0_ plion #3 For A 100 ,Cord Op.e. ration;

Three columns in the side yard totalling 80 cords of wood.
One column parallel to rear property line containing 20 cords of wood.
Storage of equipment would be wherever space is available in rear yard.
If selected, Fire Chief recommends immediate implementation.

Note: All of the above options comply with the Fire Code requirement for 20 foot clearance
between piles and a maximum of 50 cords per piie. In addition, the options provide a front yard
setback equal to that of the home and a 35 foot side yard setback in accordance with City Code
requirements for comer lots. Decreasing woodpile quantities and trying to meet Mr. Klar's desire
for a 100 cord operation will spread the operation further into the side yard which may give the
neighbors the illusion that the operation is expanding. Also, this is not to say that the options are
limited to the 3 above.

The following items are enclosed for your information.

a)
b)
c)

d)
e)

Site location map
Copy of conditional use permit issued in 1984.
Findings of fact adopted on April 25, 1989 relating to the request for an amended
conditional use permit.
Figures I, 2, and 3 for Options 1, 2, and 3.
Proposed conditional use permit amendment

Recommendation:

Council Action:

Motion to:
Deny Mr. Klar's request for a conditional use permit to maintain one additional delivery
truck on his property at 16020 Potassium Street N.W.

Motion to:
Approve the issuance of an amended conditional use permit for the fzrewood sales business
at 16020 Potassium Street N.W. implementing the terms of Option gl, or #2 or #3 or Other
for the fh-ewood sales operation.
