CASE #12

REPORT ON UTE STP~EET N.~.
By: Peter Raatikka, City Engineer

Background:

As requested by the City Council on July 11, 1989, we have prepared
a brief study of upgrading Ute Street to City Standards.

The estimated cost of the project is $26,000, which includes paving
the street with a 26" wide suburban cross section. It was also
assumed that residents on both sides of the street would dedicate
10 feet of right of way without cost. If payment was required, the
cost could would have to be assessed.

With the additional 10 feet of right of way in each side, the total
width of right of way would be 50 feet. To acquire 66 feet of
right of way and widen the street to current City Standards would
be very costly and require removal of numerous trees.

Enclosed is a copy of the study which shows the total cost and an
estimated unit cost.

Recommendation:

I would recommend that the City Council hold an informational
meeting with the residents in the area to discuss the project.

council Action:

Motion to direct city Staff to set up an information meeting regard
Ute Street on August 15, 1989.

Review Checklist:

City Administrator
city Attorney
city Engineer
Community Development Dir.

x

Chief of Police
Finance Officer
Public Works Supt.
Other
