There are eight sites: four in.Hennepin <br />County, three im Amoka Coumty and one im Washington Coumty. The new <br />legislation authorizes the Council to use the solid waste bond proceeds to <br />reimburse commumities that contai~ these sites. <br /> <br />The legislation says communities can be reqmhursed for certain costs <br />incurred after publication of the environmental lmpact statement .(EIS) <br />preparation notice. The following EIS preparation notices have been <br />published: <br /> <br />HennepimCounty -March 23, 1987 <br />AnokaCounty - December I, 1986 <br />Washington Coumty - October 17, 1988 <br /> <br />Reimburseable costs include data collection and technical review and <br />analysis necessary to ~valuate the: 1) the DEISs; and 2) the siting <br />decision required by the coumty-city site selection board. Legal fees are <br />not eligible for reimbursement. The reimbursement can not exceed <br />$100,000. The effective date of the new legislation is August 1, 1989. <br /> <br />Staff will proceed to notify the affected commumities of this <br />reimbursement opportumity. Cost agreements between the Coumcil and the <br />commumitles will be entered imto, similar to the Council-county EIS cost <br />agreements. Cost agreements that exceed $25,000 have to be approved By the <br />Management Committee and the Council. <br /> <br />In addition to the above statutory requirements, staff will provide <br /> <br /> <br />
