City of Ramsey

15153 NOWTHEN BOULEVARD N.W.. RAMSEY,

MINNESOTA 55303 ~, (612) 427-1410

August 22, 1989

U.S. Congressman Gerry Sikorski
414 Cannon House Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20510

Subject:

Individual Assignment of Zip Codes by Cities

Gerry:

The City of Ramsey wishes to commend you on your recent co-sponsorship of H.R.2380 which
would establish zip codes for each community in the Sixth District and across the Nation.

The City of Ramsey concurs with your stance requiring that the Postal Service establish zip
codes consistent wilh community boundaries upon the request of the community.

As you are aware, the City of Ramsey, in the year 1980, had a population of just over 10,000
and with the recent rapid growth is expected to have a population of approximately 13.000 in
the year 1990. The importance of establishing zip codes by municipality will afford the City
better and more acourate information on sales tax information, employment figures, etc., not to
mention less confusion, and better City identity. The need for City oriented and zip code derived
information is of paramounl use by our City Staff in 1he planning and economic development of
our community.

Gerry, as champion of this cause, your work is appreciated.

Sincerely,

Gary Reimann, Mayor
CITY OF RAMS_~Y'

GR/jml
