AFFIRMATIVE ACTION PLAN FOR D~$ABLED INDIVIDUALS <br /> <br />A. Disabled Individuals Affirmative Action Clause <br /> <br />The City gl Ramsey shall nol d~scriminale against an), employee or applicant lot employment <br />because of physical or mental disability in regard to any positian for which the employee or <br />employmenl is qualified. The City agrees to take affirmative action to employ, advance in <br />employment, and otherwise treat qualified disabled individuals without discrimination upon <br />their physical or mental disability in all employment practices such as the following: <br />employment,, upgrading, demotion or transfer, recruitment, advertising; _layoff-or <br />termination/ rates of pay or other forms of compensation, and selection for training, <br />including internship programs. '~'-~ <br /> <br />The City agrees to post in conspicuous places, available to employees and applicants for <br />employment, notices in a form to be prescribed by the commissioner of the Minnesota <br />Departmenl of Human Rights. Such notices shall state 1he City of Ramsey's obligation under <br />the law to take affirmative action to employ and advance in employment qualified disabled <br />employees and applicants for employment, and the rights of applicants and employees. <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey shall notify each labor union or representative of workers with which it <br />has a collective bargaining agreement or other contract understanding, that the contractor is <br />bound by the terms of Minnesota Statutes, section 363.073 of the Minnesota Human Rights <br />Act and is committed to take affirmative action to employ and advance in employment <br />physically and mentally disabled individuals. <br /> <br />B. Schedule for Review <br /> <br />The City of Ramsay will review annually all physical and mental job requirements to the <br />extent that these requirements tend to screen out qualified disabled individuals. It will be <br />determined whether these requirements are job related, and consistent with business <br />necessity and the safe performance of job. <br /> <br />C. Pre-Employment Medical Exams <br /> <br />The-City .of Ramsey may require.a, comprehensive medical exam prior to employment. The <br />results of such an examination will not be used tc sc~:een out' q-uaiified 'disaSled individual[. - .... <br />Information obtained in response rd' sdch inqi. Jiri'e§' Or e~:aminatiOn shall be kept confidential ....... <br />except that (a) supervisors and managers may be informed regarding restrictions on the <br />work or duties of disabled individuals and regarding accommodations, (b) first aid and safety <br />perSonnel may be informed, where and to the extent appropriate, if the condition might <br />require emergency treatment, and (c) officials, employees, representatives, or agents of the <br />Minnesota Department of Human Rights or local human rights agencies investigating <br />compliance with the act or local human rights ordinances shall be informed if they request <br />such information. <br /> <br />24 <br /> <br /> <br />
