C.~ ,'TY C~ R~.SLEY <br /> <br />HARASSMENT POLICY <br /> <br />THE crl'Y OF, RAMS;EY DOES NOT TOLERATE ~~-2N'T OF ANY EJ~PLOY'~_E. <br /> <br />For the purpose of this policy, the term 'harassment' includes (but is-n~t limited to} slur.". <br />jokes, other verbal, graphic or physical conducl relating to an individuals race, color, sex, <br />religion, national origin, handicap, age or sexual preterence. <br /> <br />This policy applies to full and pad-time employees, elected officials, temporary employees, <br />employees working under contract for the City and members of the volunteer fire department. <br /> <br />Any form of harassment related 1o an employee's race, color, sex. religion, national origin, <br />handicap, age or sexual preference is Prohibited Practice and will be treated as a disciplinary <br />mallet. <br /> <br />Sexual Harassment of any employee by any other employee will not be tolerated. <br /> <br />Sexual harassment has been defined by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and by <br />the Minnesota Human Rights Act to involve unwelcome sexual .~dvances, requests tot sexual <br />favors, sexually motivated physical contact and other verbal or physical contact or <br />communication of a sexual nature when: <br /> <br />1. submission to such conduct is made either implicitly or explicitly as a term or condition of <br /> an individual's employment; <br /> <br />2. submission 1o or.rejection of such conduct by an individual is used as 8 basis for an <br /> -' ' e'mpldyment 'decision ' affecting Ihe individual's employment; _ <br /> <br />3. such conduct has the purpose or effe~ of substantially' interfering in an individual's work <br /> performance or in creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive working environment; <br /> <br />Federal and S:ate Law protects employees from harassment under Title VII of the Civil Rights <br />Act and Chapter 363 under the Minnesota Human Rights A~. <br /> <br />Violation of this Poli~ by an employee shall subject that employee to disciplinary action, up to <br />and including discharge. <br /> <br /> <br />
