C. Prohibited Areas for <br />_Constru~t~0n and Operation of ~ndf~l <br /> <br /> The fill, trench, and <br />excavation areas of sanitary landfill <br />sites are prohibited within the following <br />areas, as existing at the time of <br />issuance of a conditional use permit: <br /> <br /> a) 1,000 feet from the normal <br />high water mark of a lake, pond or <br />flowage. <br /> <br />b) 300 feet from a stream. <br /> <br /> c) Any regional flood plain <br />(100 year flood). <br /> <br /> d) Within 1,000 feet of the <br />nearest edge of the right-of-way of any <br />state, federal or interstate highway or <br />of the boundary of a public park or of an <br />occupied dwelling. <br /> <br /> e) Locations considered <br />hazardous because of the proximity of <br />airports. <br /> <br /> f) An area which is <br />unsuitable because of reasons of <br />topography, geology, hydrology or soils. <br /> <br /> g) Within 500 feet of any <br />known source of groundwater contamination <br />or any other 'known source of pollution. <br /> <br /> h) An area where groundwater <br />is contaminated or lies within the path <br />of the migration of contaminated <br />groundwater. <br /> <br />(7) REQUIRED BUFFER AREAS AND SCREENING <br />FOR LANDFILL SITES <br /> <br /> The distance between an operational <br />landfill and other land uses is critical <br />in avoiding scenic blight, land use <br />compatibility, reduction of land values <br />and nuisances from odor, dust, noise, <br />vibration, etc. Therefore, the following <br />standards shall guide the review and <br />issuance of conditional use pe_~umits. <br /> <br /> <br />
