Suitable buffer areas, berms, <br />barriers and vegetation shall be provided <br />to minimize noise, odors, landfill gas <br />migration, public safety, nuisances and <br />other impacts on adjacent properties. <br /> <br /> Buffer area is considered suitable <br />if there is a separation distance of <br />1,000 feet between a residence and any <br />part of the site where landfill activity <br />is proposed to take place. <br /> <br /> suitable berms, barriers and <br />vegetation shall screen the landfill <br />activity area year 'round from property <br />within one half (1/2) mile of the <br />landfill site. Solid waste may not be <br />used as berming material. <br /> <br />(8) HEIGHT LIMITATION ON LANDFILL <br />ACTIVITY <br /> <br /> The height of a landfill becomes a <br />scenic blight and nuisance when the <br />landfill activity rises above any natural <br />or man made screening. Therefore, <br />landfills may not exceed the height of <br />the lowest berm, barrier or vegetation <br />surrounding the landfill site. <br /> <br />(9) REQUIP~ED PRACTICES FOR ¥~INTENANCE <br />AND OPERATIO~ ~{D LANDFILLS <br /> <br /> Solid waste landfills shall be <br />operated and maintained in accordance <br />with the rules promulgated in FAR <br />7035.1700 and in compliance with Section <br />V of Anoka County Ordinance 83-3 as may <br />be amended from time to time except as <br />modified or amended herein. <br /> <br /> A. Visual screening shall be <br />accomplished as provided in Section 7 of <br />this ordinance. <br /> <br /> <br />
