Exemptions for Grandfathered Projects. <br /> <br />Selected text was: "Requirements of this ordinance may be waived by the Community <br />Development of the City of Ramsey for a land disturbance permit which is to proceed with <br />development of a larger project, at least 75% of the land of which has already received a permit <br />or permits initiating clearing or grading activities prior to the effective date of this ordinance. <br />All potential grandfathered project must submit an appeal for consideration." <br /> <br />58. Exemption for Horticultural and Agricultural Use. <br /> <br />Selected text was: "Nothing included in the provisions of this Ordinance is intended to prohibit <br />agriculture, silviculture, horticulture or nursery operations within the city." <br /> <br />59. Exemption for Timber Harvest. <br /> <br />Consensus was to eliminate this section from the draft ordinance. <br /> <br />60. Exemption for Treatment of Disease or Infestation. <br /> <br />Selected text was: "Upon the advice of the county extension service or the Georgia Forestry <br />Commission in accordance with commonly accepted forestry practices and a finding of a tree <br />disease or infestation, the Zoning Enforcement Officer may authorize the removal of trees to <br />prevent the transmission of disease or infestation, to prevent the danger of those trees falling, or <br />to prevent the potential injury to life and property." <br /> <br />OTHER DISCUSSIONS <br /> <br />Mr. Bacon briefed the committee on the Traprock Commons neighborhood group and their <br />problem with the Scotch Pine plantation. The DNR's assistance is expected to bring firewise <br />program funding to assist the neighborhood pilot program and perhaps the whole community. <br /> <br />Mr. Max asked the Committee's support for convening a panel of communities to share their <br />experience with implementing tree conservation ordinances. Mr. McDilda stated that he would <br />place this suggestion on the revised timetable. Mr. Max volunteered to coordinate the invitation <br />to the participants. <br /> <br />Motion by Committee Member Strommen and seconded by Committee Member Connolly to <br />direct Mr. McDilda to provide an opportunity in the revised timetable for the Ramsey EPTF to <br />host a public informational meeting between the public and representatives of other communities <br />regarding implementation of tree preservation ordinances. Further, to direct Committee Member <br />Max to coordinate the format, publication, and invitations of said meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />
