The commissioner shall provide advice and assistance to local <br />governments and agencies in the Mississippi River Corridor <br />Critical Area during the development, adoption, <br />administration, and enforcement of plans and ordinances, <br />consistent with the purposes in part 6106.0020, and <br />specifically shall: <br />(1) develop model ordinances; <br />(2) review and approve final draft plans and ordinances <br />before adoption by a local government as provided <br />under subpart 11. If requested by a local government, <br />the commissioner shall review preliminary draft plans <br />and ordinances and provide comments to assist the <br />local government in complying with parts 6106.0010 <br />to 6106.0150; and <br />(3) consult with agencies identified in subpart 10 to <br />ensure that the agencies administer lands and <br />programs under the agencies' jurisdictions consistent <br />with parts 6106.0010 to 6106.0150. <br />C. To aid in the fulfillment of the state's role to preserve and <br />protect the Mississippi River Corridor Critical Area and to <br />monitor the administration and enforcement of Mississippi <br />River Corridor Critical Area ordinances, the commissioner may: <br />(1) review decisions concerning discretionary actions <br />under Mississippi River Corridor Critical Area <br />12 <br />Item B outlines how the DNR will assist local <br />governments in complying with the rules. <br />Item C outlines options the DNR may use to <br />assess and improve local government <br />performance in administering the rules. <br />6106.0060 1 <br />
